Anita Woods

Anita Woods is a professional figurative artist working primarily in watercolour and mixed media. She is an elected member of the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales.

Woods enjoys pushing the boundaries of watercolour, experimenting with layers and mixed media to explore the possibilities of the medium. Her practice remains an ongoing journey of discovery, driven by a desire to explore new techniques and possibilities within her work.

Her paintings are inspired by a deep love of animals and the landscape, alongside an enduring fascination with Celtic tales and legends. Music also plays an important role in her creative process. A line from a song or even a song title can spark an image or evoke a feeling, often providing the initial inspiration from which a painting begins to develop.

Woods’ work has been exhibited widely and has been selected for Wales Contemporary in 2020, 2022 and 2023, as well as the Royal Cambrian Academy (RCA) in 2024. Her practice continues to evolve through an intuitive and exploratory approach to figurative painting, watercolour and mixed media.
