Becky Thorley-Fox

Born in Cheshire, Becky Thorley-Fox studied Creative Arts, specialising in Art and Textiles, at Bath Spa University. Following her graduation, she moved to Wales to be closer to the landscapes and natural environments that inspire her work. She now lives and works in Aberystwyth, on the west coast of Wales.

Working primarily in oils, Becky draws inspiration from the natural world, embracing the challenge of painting directly from life and in the elements. Her practice is rooted in close observation and a desire to capture the fleeting moments, atmosphere and energy of her surroundings.

Painting outdoors is central to Becky’s approach, allowing her to respond instinctively to the changing light, weather and conditions. She relishes the spontaneity and challenges of working directly from nature, where each experience offers an opportunity to deepen her understanding of her subject and develop her practice.

Through her paintings, Becky seeks to convey not only what she sees, but also the feeling and experience of being immersed in the landscape, capturing a sense of life, movement and connection to the natural world.
