David Shiers

David is a Staffordshire-based artist whose work is inspired by light, atmosphere, and the essence of his subjects. Having worked in various studios as a graphic designer and exhibited widely across the UK, David has been painting professionally since 2003. Working mainly in oils and watercolour, David’s approach is expressive and spontaneous, often working en plein air and using watercolour sketches to capture the immediate feeling of a place. His paintings explore the changing qualities of light and nature, translating moments of observation into vibrant and atmospheric works.

Based in Stone, Staffordshire, David’s full-time artistic practice allows him to continue experimenting with new ideas, techniques, and ways of responding to the natural world. He is a member of the Wirral Society of Arts (WSA) and the Society of Staffordshire Artists (SSA).

In 2025, David was invited to take part in the 9th Symposium of Art in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, joining a group of international artists for a week of creative exchange. His work has also been featured in publications including The Artist & Illustrators magazine, The Liverpool Art Book: City Through the Life of its Artists (2019), and Lancashire Life magazine.
