Keeping the Traditions Alive

With the National Eisteddfod underway this week we thought it an excellent opportunity to celebrate the tradition of Welsh songs and poetry by showcase the work of Ruth Pritchard. Her ornamental plaques are inspired by the ‘Welsh Hen Benillion’/ Penillion Telyn’. Some saying date back to the 16th Century and continue to be popular today as folk songs, nursery rhymes, sayings and words of wisdom. Ruth says ‘For continuation of these verses, keep the plaque for best use.’

Cadw'r Traddodiadau'n Fyw

Gyda’r Eisteddfod Genedlaethol ar y gweill yr wythnos hon roeddem yn meddwl ei fod yn gyfle gwych i ddathlu traddodiad caneuon a barddoniaeth Gymraeg drwy arddangos gwaith Ruth Pritchard. Mae ei phlaciau addurniadol wedi’u hysbrydoli gan yr ‘Hen Benillion Cymreig’ / Penillion Telyn. Mae rhai dywediadau yn dyddio'n ôl i'r 16eg Ganrif ac yn parhau i fod yn boblogaidd heddiw fel caneuon gwerin, hwiangerddi, dywediadau a geiriau doethineb. Dywed Ruth ‘Am barhad o’r adnodau hyn, cadwch y plac i’r defnydd gorau ohono.’
